FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Northeast Indiana Innovation Community (NIIC) welcomed innovators, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, and community partners to the Parkview Mirro Center on November 21 for Innovation@Work, its annual gathering dedicated to celebrating regional innovation, progress, and possibility. This year’s event marked a major milestone: the NIIC’s 25th anniversary as a hub for entrepreneurship and a catalyst for growth across Northeast Indiana.
Through reflections on the past, recognition of present changemakers, and a forward-looking vision delivered by the NIIC’s new President and CEO, John McDonald, the luncheon spotlighted the people and partnerships shaping what’s next for the region. In his remarks, McDonald outlined three priorities for the NIIC’s future: transitioning from “Innovation Center” to “Innovation Community,” streamlining the organization’s coaching platform, and developing a sustainable membership model to expand access and impact.
“This community thrives because of the people who believe in what’s possible here,” McDonald said. “For 25 years, the NIIC has been committed to turning ideas into impact, and the momentum continues — thanks to the founders, leaders, and partners who push innovation forward every day.”
A highlight of Innovation@Work was the presentation of three of the NIIC’s distinguished awards, recognizing individuals whose leadership reflects the spirit of innovation, service, and possibility that has defined the organization’s mission for more than two decades.
