Learn about User Experience Design and Virtual/Augmented Reality Development at Workshop

February 23, 2017, Fort Wayne, Ind

Gamified user interfaces, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), are the next wave of digital engagement leading to better user experiences and technology adoption. The NIIC’s new Gaming and User Experience Lab was established to teach developers and companies how to use these user experience tools. The public is invited to an introductory workshop to learn more on March 7, 2017, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at The NIIC EBM Gaming & Experience Lab.

This introductory workshop will explain what these tools and techniques are about, and what it takes to become proficient in using them. “Workshop participants will get an overview of the user experience design processes and how they can be used at the front end of developing digital systems, like websites, mobile applications, software programs, etc. They will also learn how the tools can be used to develop products and services of any type with the end user in mind. There will be a special emphasis on what it takes to develop systems for virtual and augmented reality,” said Michael Fritsch, Entrepreneur in Residence, The NIIC.

VR and AR systems will be available for usage during the workshop. The opportunity to experience this equipment at The NIIC EBM Gaming & Experience Lab was made possible through generous support of long-standing NIIC partners the English-Bonter-Mitchell (EBM) Foundation. Additional workshops are being developed for intermediate and advanced levels.

About The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (The NIIC)

The NIIC is a non-profit, community-based entrepreneurial community. We assist business builders and entrepreneurs to launch, expand, or re-invent successful businesses and ventures in Northeast Indiana. Formed in 1999 by a consortium of community and government leaders and organizations in 2013, The NIIC was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the top four under-the-radar incubators in the country. This basically means Entrepreneur magazine, with the help of International Business Incubation Association, picked four U.S. incubators to highlight, and we were one of them. In their words, we “stand out in a state not always perceived as small business friendly.” The NIIC is the country’s only ISO9001: 2008 registered business incubation and acceleration program.
