Today marks my 200th LinkedIn blog post. As a continuation of last week, this post is a collection of some timeless advice and truths I’ve shared over the years. To that end, following are five additional pieces of insight business builders of all types might consider as they finish out 2019 strong.

1. Emotional intelligence (EQ) can be a predictor of success. As this post suggests, empathy is not an elusive, pie-in-the-sky idea. On the contrary, it’s a skill that all of us would benefit from putting into daily practice and thereby adding value to our organizations, from new hire selection to customer experience.

2. The most effective teams and organizations are laser focused. It can be a hard pill to swallow, but sometimes hitting goals calls for making a tough decision in removing obstacles and barriers (both tangible and intangible) that no longer serve us. This post explores a few of the most common ones you might experience from time to time.

3. Innovation drives culture in any organization, large or small. Peter Drucker was right when he said, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.” It’s just that sometimes business owners don’t know where to begin when it comes to encouraging innovation on the job. Here’s some food for thought on the topic.

4. Relationships are and will continue to be integral to organizational success. Despite the rise of AI and other technologies, organizations of all types stand to benefit from prioritizing human interaction. Moreover, as this post explains, business builders looking to push past their limits might find success in expanding and curating their networks.

5. Contrary to the adage, failure is an option in business. How do you know when a project or venture has run its course, and you should call it quits? This post offers tips on how to remove bias from such a decision. Sometimes when things are not working and there is not a credible pivot, you may just have to move on to your next big idea. The key is to move on quickly once you realize that is the case.

Thanks for reading and engaging over the last several years with me and my ideas. I look forward to producing more relevant and salient insights. As promised, stay tuned at NIIC’s LinkedIn page for a special giveaway opportunity related to my 200th blog post.
