Women, Support and Why Entrepreneurs Need It
Everyone needs support of some sort. In fact, the majority of personal development and business success I’ve experienced, I can directly link to the quality and consistency of the support network I’ve developed around me.
In the same token, when I’m stuck or not producing, I can also link this directly to a lack of intentional and regular collaboration and relationship.
As a woman entrepreneur, I can attest to how easily isolation surreptitiously gains access into our world and how marginalizing its effects can become.
It’s not just women who need support; we all do. However, as the Director for the Women’s Economic Opportunity Center (WEOC), my focus is specifically on women.
When we are trying to build a business or launch our dream, it’s imperative that we surround ourselves with other motivated and successful people. It’s incredibly powerful when we intentionally seek out other women who have gone before us and succeeded. Women who can relate without struggles and setbacks. Women who can help normalize our fears and inspire us to keep going when things get difficult.
The 2014 Kauffman study on the challenges that women entrepreneurs face, cited lack of support or mentors as one of the primary obstacles blocking women entrepreneurs’ success. [1]
This is why WEOC has made mentoring available to women entrepreneurs across the state of Indiana. It’s provided at no charge and offers online access to a network of nationwide mentors. There’s no trick sales technique awaiting you. It’s simply an entire network of other women who want to be a source of support for you!
