January 7, 2019, Fort Wayne, Ind.—Innovators and business builders can learn, hone their skills and connect with like-minded individuals in the coming year at 2019 WEOC Workshops and Events. This year’s calendar is robust, featuring various formats and experts. This is the result of WEOC’s continued collaboration with partners like SCORE Northeast Indiana and Innovation Connector plus new partnerships with 1st Source Bank, LookUp Indiana and WOWnet Fort Wayne.
Leslee Hill, Director, Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center (WEOC), said, “At WEOC and The NIIC we are committed to removing barriers for individuals starting and growing their businesses. One way we do this is by providing access and on-ramps for business builders to be successful. This year we are focusing on themes based on WEOC clients’ needs and those of our collaborative partners. These themes include focus, accountability, confidence, sales, mental well-being, personal branding and growth. In addition to the workshops and networking meetings, WEOC SoloPreneur Masterminds Group and WEOC $10k Masterminds Group meets each week at The NIIC.
“My decision to partner with WEOC and WOWnet was inspired by their efforts to help develop business and professional women in the areas of networking, mentoring and promoting leadership. Supporting and encouraging women to seek out entrepreneurship roles or other leadership opportunities is crucial to the success of our community. I am truly excited to be able to help create opportunities for professional women to develop their skills and networks this year,” said Cecile Weir, Vice President, Business Banking, 1st Source Bank.
“LookUp Indiana is a free online resource for mental health information, resources, and help. We know that starting the conversation on mental health eliminates the stigma and encourages more people to get help. Getting the help we need makes us better. Better for our families, our businesses, the communities we serve, and for ourselves. We are thankful for organizations like WEOC and The NIIC who understand the value in caring for the whole person,” said Heather Hunley, Project Cooredinator – LookUp, The Lutheran Foundation.
Hunley said, “As President of WOWnet, I am in awe of the caliber of women in our community. They inspire me, encourage me and help me grow. WOWnet is about women lifting each other up and making room at the table. We are honored to partner with WEOC in 2019!”

About The NIIC
The NIIC is a non-profit, vibrant entrepreneurial community. We help business builders and entrepreneurs launch and grow successful business ventures. We are located in a designated U.S. Small Business Administration HUB Zone, and in April 2018, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb designated The Northeast Indiana Innovation Park Campus as an Opportunity Zone through the U.S. Treasury. Formed in 1999 by a consortium of community and government leaders and organizations, The NIIC was recognized by Entrepreneur magazine in 2013 as one of the top four under-the-radar incubators in the country. This basically means Entrepreneur magazine, with the help of International Business Incubation Association, picked four U.S. incubators to highlight, and we were one of them. In their words, we “stand out in a state not always perceived as small business friendly.” The NIIC is the country’s only ISO9001:2015 registered business incubation and acceleration program. About WEOC
The Women’s Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center (WEOC) serves Northeast Indiana women at all stages of their business ventures. WEOC responds to the unique needs of women entrepreneurs through business growth coaching, training and entrepreneurial education, connectivity and access to capital. In October 2017, the name changed to Women’s Entrepreneurial (instead of Economic) Opportunity Center to more accurately reflect what WEOC does. WEOC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. As the Host organization, The NIIC also provides funding and supplemental and complementary resources for WEOC, an SBA designated Women’s Business Center—one of two in Indiana.
