5 Tips: dream big and execute one step at a time.

There’s a seed of immeasurable greatness planted in our hearts. It is unveiled each time we dream big dreams and grows when we amass the courage to turn those dreams into reality.

Dreaming and executing aren’t mutually exclusive.

Constantly having a vision of productivity and success and the grit to act on it are big (not-so) secret weapons to success. As John Maxwell, American author, speaker, and pastor, said, “Dreams don’t work unless we do.”

Taking no action after dreaming big is the ultimate dream and motivation killer.

It’s time to break away from fear and self-doubt to unleash the greatness within you.

  1. That dream was placed in your heart for a reason.

Whether you’re planning to start something new or achieve the next level in business, there’s always a reason compelling enough to push you into action.

It pays to know your “why.” It will be one of your strongholds, even when the going gets tough.

  1. Create an action plan.

Inspiration incites action. After defining your dream, break down your vision into smaller, manageable parts.

Identify the results and expectations you want to accomplish, then develop an action plan to get there.

Set specific goals and try working backward from there. According to well-established and much-referenced research, chances of hitting the mark will increase dramatically when people have clarity around their goals.

Work hard and monitor your progress.

Your habits determine your success.

  1. Surround yourself with the right people to help you succeed.

Success is hardly ever earned alone. It takes lots of collaboration. Having the right network to support your endeavor matters. In fact, it’s crucial.

When you are not mindful of the people you spend time with during your dream expedition, you may believe you are too ambitious, have an exceptionally challenging journey, or worse, give up along the way.

Look for the right mentors, those who may help you with the needed resources for your journey, and the right partners and employees who will understand your vision and work hard to achieve it.

The BizChix offers professional business strategies to help entrepreneurs, especially women, succeed. It provides an excellent, self-paced course on making your next best hire. It is a step-by-step guide to support you through the hiring process.

Having the right people working hand-in-hand with you is key to making your dreams come true.

  1. Realize that a big dream requires time.

Time is critical in establishing a new business or a new business goal.

Assess the time you can devote to it. If you have other responsibilities, such as having a demanding profession or if you are a stay-at-home mom, establish an efficient, workable schedule to manage your business.

This isn’t as easy as it sounds—wearing multiple hats is difficult. Yet, I encourage you to keep believing in your idea’s value despite challenges. You can always devise an execution plan that works best for you. You will make it.

  1. Learn from others.

Listening to others’ input never fails to enlighten and empower resolve. At The NIIC and through our WEOC Women’s Business Center, we are committed to hosting and leading workshops and training to draw new and successful entrepreneurs to celebrate and fuel the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit in Northeast Indiana and the greater region.

The NIIC’s annual Dr. Daryl Yost Ideas@Work Event convenes entrepreneurs, business leaders, educators, and students to connect and hear winning ideas from an inspiring keynote speaker. In May 2022, Keynote Speaker James Bailey, President and CEO of the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, stated transformative entrepreneurship is key to serving minority business owners. His inspirational talk moved event participants and challenged them to create jobs, grow companies, and increase wealth—regardless of skin color. Success is for everyone who desires to pursue it.

A big dream is a powerful idea that can spark change. Don’t be afraid to go for it. Take the first step and know that we are here to guide you until you take flight.
